Patient Informtion

Fees and Billing

All standard medical services at Coombabah Medical Clinic are bulk billed.

Some services, such as medical examinations for insurance purposes, (i.e. Commercial Drivers License, Employment), cannot be bulk-billed. The receptionist can advise of costs for such services.

After Hours Care

​National Home Doctor Service (click for website) after hour's service can be contacted on 13 74 25, as well. For emergencies, please go to Gold Coast University Hospital, Gold Coast Private Hospital, Pindara or Robina Hospital.

Making Appointments

It is advisable to make an appointment to see the Doctor whenever possible to avoid delays. If a longer consultation is required, please advise the receptionist when making appointment. Please advise if booking for a procedure or medical examination, so that a longer consultation time may be booked. Urgent medical cases are given priority, which may sometimes cause a delay in waiting time to see the doctor. The receptionist will endeavor to inform of any delays. Your co-operation is appreciated during such times. Please notify reception staff at time of booking if you have a potentially communicable / infectious disease, e.g. influenza, measles, chicken pox, etc.

Registration

New and existing patients should inform the practice of their current address and phone number and if possible, an emergency contact phone number.

Availability of Doctor by Telephone

The doctor may be contacted by phone during normal surgery hours. If the Doctor is in consultation, your call will be returned.

Only a member of the medical or clinical team can provide treatment or advice over the telephone. A fee may be incurred for the service.

In more urgent matters, your call will be put through to the Doctor. For all emergencies, please hang up and dial 000.

Home Visits

Home visits are available for patients whose condition prevents attendance at the surgery. This should be arranged with the receptionist. Fees Apply.

Coombabah Medical Clinic is a general medical practice dealing with general aspects of family and community medicine.

Facilities

Coombabah Medical Clinic is also equipped with an electric, height adjustable bed for convenience of patients.

Results

Follow-up results for tests usually require an appointment with the Doctor. Urgent results will be phoned to the patient directly and requested to make an appointment.

Recall

Patients may request the Doctor to enroll them in a recall list for future visits, e.g. Vaccinations, regular diabetes checks and asthma checks. Patients can choose to opt-out of recalls at any time, including government organisations like Breast Screen QLD, Pap Smear Register, etc.

Confidentiality

All patient records and information recorded are strictly confidential. For patients who are moving, we request a record transfer form from your new Doctor. Fees and charges may apply.

Feedback

To help us to continue to improve our services, patient feedback comments are welcome. We offer a suggestion box within the practice to collect feedback from patients. Difficult issues may be referred to:

Improvements for Coombabah Medical Clinic

As a result of the recent practice survey for patients, we have endeavored to improve services of this practice:
1. Improving the facilities available like electronic height adjustable bed, spirometer, and an electrocardiography.
2. Enhancing home visits in after hours care by liasing with National Home Doctor Service and Dr. David Khoo (when available).
3. Contacting patients with booked appointments if there is a delay in seeing the doctor to reduce waiting time.
4. Implementation of electronic claiming with Pracsoft.
5. Improving availability of Allied Health Services - podiatry, physiotherapy and dietetics.
